Youth in Action
The streets of Flor del Campo in Honduras are no place for a child. Like Nazareth, the odds are against anything good coming from them. And yet, Jesus came from Nazareth. The Savior of the world from this unlikely beginning.
“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip. John 1:46
Youth in Action, formerly named The Alonzo Movement, is an inner-city ministry designed to keep Honduran children and youth off the streets and out of gangs.
The program was originally formed when a bright young man from Flor, who against all odds was about to take his last exam before becoming an attorney, was murdered by two young gang members for his cell phone.
Youth in Action was birthed in his memory to reach out to the children and youth in this troubled area. Lovingly planned after school and Saturday gatherings often include tutoring and help with schoolwork, arts and crafts, music, Christian life lessons for spiritual formation, life skills, soccer, and more.
Youth in Action is led by LAMB community volunteers, young disciples making disciples in their community. Following the example of our Lord, they work to bring life out of death.
